ABOUT THE FOUNDER: DOMINIQUE WHITE

As a child who had health-related issues, Dominique experienced what it was like to be cared for with compassion from her mother. The care her mother provided also flowed over to family and friends. Dominique’s mother, Yolanda, would take care of individuals in her community while they were sick by running errands, providing transportation for appointments, cooking meals for the evening, cleaning their homes, and providing spiritual support. In 1999, Dominique and her family relocated to Minnesota to begin a new life. Even with the location change, the care for others remained a constant example that Dominique’s mother demonstrated. Over the years Dominique was present while her mother, Yolanda, provided support as a caregiver to her friends and family through teaching Bible study at several domestic women's shelters and volunteering her services at her local church. This shining example of giving back is what inspired Dominique to follow in her mother’s footsteps. In 2002 Dominique began to volunteer her time at organizations that provided housing, employment, and meal resources. Through her volunteer efforts and seeing the high demand for accessible community support services, Dominique’s passion for assisting others was the driving force for her to pursue a career in social services. For over fifteen years, she helped others by addressing individuals’s health, chemical dependence, and mental health needs. Moments when Dominique knew she was able to make an impact were when she assisted individuals in locating and securing stable housing. Assisting others to pursue their life’s purpose and seeing individuals advance their independence provided the spark to launch a business that made a positive impact in the community. Yolanda's Blessing's mission is to care for individuals who need support and guidance while being a remembrance to Dominique's mother, Yolanda Burns, who provided a blessing for others.
